Heart-Healthy Peanuts
Peanuts come as one of the most essential ingredient in making peanut butter fudge. Peanuts are actually not true nuts although they are a member of legumes family that is related to chickpeas, peas, lentils, and other beans.
Peanuts as well as peanut butters are loaded with heart-healthy fats, the unsaturated type of fat. More than 80 percent of the fats found in peanuts come from polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats—both kinds of fats have scientifically shown beneficial effects to lower blood cholesterol levels. Our body needs fats, but it is significant to keep the total amount of fats in our body as low as possible to keep our body healthy. It is very important to select the healthy fats, and it is better to get that unsaturated kind of fat like those found in peanut butters and olive oil. Scientific studies and research have shown that peanuts have great nutritional value. The Food and Drug Administration, in fact, has recently approved health claims regarding the eating of peanuts is healthy and that an ounce of peanuts a day can reduce the risk of heart-related diseases.
Peanutty Peanut Butter
Peanut butter is packed with many important nutrients for our body and that include copper, vitamin E, magnesium, folate, potassium, selenium, fiber niacin, and zinc. Peanut butter is a very inexpensive source of healthy fats and plant protein that a daily consumption of it within the limits allowed by medical doctors is highly encourage. In manufacturing peanut butter, the law is strict on its provision in not allowing the manufacture of peanut butter that contains less than 90 percent peanuts. With this strict 90 percent peanut content law, we are safe to assume that only little amounts of salt , sugar, hydrogenated vegetable oils, and stabilizers are added to the peanut butters we get from the supermarket shelves and all the peanut butters we love to eat.
Peanut butter fudge selections at Tanner’s Pecan and Candies are absolutely mouthwatering. Visit their site to make your own choosing now.

QUESTION:
What do you think of Carol's Daugher Healthy Hair Butter?
I use this product on my relaxed hair every night. I massage with it and put it on the ends. But I try not to use too much. Can I only use this? Or should I use another product with this? Has anyone used this product?-
ANSWER:
I used to use Carol's Daughter. The Healthy Hair Butter is too heavy and caused a lot of product build up..it was extremely waxy and greasy and only conditioned my hair for a day.....the next day it was back brittle again and thesmell is ENTIRELY too over powering. The Kiwi Coconut Hair Smoothie from Mineral Indulgence is much lighter and moisturizing for hair (especially relaxed). It also contains herbs and a wider variety of essential oils than healthy hair butter....PLUS it's cheaper. So yeah...Caitlyn

Milk, eggs, butter, mayo, baking soda, .....any of these or others?-

If that doesn't work you should use avocados, just put one avocado in a bowl and smash it untilled there's no more lumps then get a handful of it and massage it in your hair put it up in a clip and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then go wash it out of your hair and shampoo and condition it like you normally would. Do this about ounce a week and your hair wont be dry but not too greasy and very healthy. I'm a licensed hairstylist (20+yrs) I've never encountered natural hair (african-american) that is over-processed. Here's the problem, client has permanent blonde for about one year. Again, it's Natural so I press and give her weekly moisture treatments. every six weeks or so we do protein. about six months ago I started having a problem getting it straight, thought maybe too much moisture so I stopped putting her under the dryer and gave her five min. moisture treatments and started using healthy hair butter(carol's daughter). did ok for awhile but now....my question is can Natural hair w/permanent color be over-processed. when we started her level was 1-2, i used a 30vol to break through and over time continued to lighten her w/20vol. shes now at an 8-9. and how can you tell? and please, licensed professional stylists, this is important. thanks-

Will rubbing cocoa butter on your scalp help your hair grow fater and healthier?
I'm African American and have experienced recent dryness and breakage and I want to know if this will help. I have 100% cocoa butter.-
ANSWER:
That's caused from chemicals, like perming, hair dyes and relaxing hair. NO.Shampoos are meant for cleaning hair, eating is for growing and you can't speed up time, nor can you speed 'perfection.'
Save your money instead of buying hair growth products or supplements. Vogue Dec. 2010, Vogue Feb. 2011 issue has a section on biotin, supplements, fish oil, etc. . Fish oil for example: Read the labels if they state that it contains: "one or more of the following: Cod, English Whiting, Shark."
The FDA don't even approve of them. Because of inadequate quality control and inspection, supplements contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, or prescription drugs have been sold to unsuspecting consumers. And FDA rules covering manufacturing quality don’t apply to the companies that supply herbs, vitamins, and other raw ingredients.

Best advice from Hollywood's well known hairstylist in the 80's once said: "Keep foods in your mouth and hair products on your hair."
If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair" - the website had moved, type it in.Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. QUESTION:
How to have beautiful, soft, shiny, healthy hair without expensive products?
I have long dirty blonde hair, it's almost at my waist.. I can't afford expensive shampoo/conditioner. Right now I use Suave Professionals Almond & Shea butter...I don't blow dry my hair, or flat iron it, or use a curling iron, or anything like that. I don't use any products in my hair, no gel, no hairspray, nothing. I just wash my hair, condition it, brush it and let it air dry. But it is dull, flat, it breaks easily so i have flyaways everywhere, it's not soft. How can I get beautiful, soft, shiny, healthy hair without expensive products?
-
ANSWER:
So far so good until I read the part: I wash my hair, condition it, brush it and let it air dry.Your hair doesn't need conditioner, it is virgin hair or should I say normal hair. You towel dry it, (use two towels since it's long hair, air dry some, by then they're halfway dried. Then blow dry for 5 mins. concentrating at the roots. THEN brush your hair and watch it get softer, shiny, and silky. Tip your head down to dry part of the inside. Everyone's hair is silky & shiny, just go outside and see in the mirror when it's sunny. It is softer if the hair is stick straight like mine.
The rest comes from your good genes, and you already have that since your hair is down to your waist, and from all the healthy foods you eat from Mother Nature, not made by man like John Frieda or supplements from GNC.

QUESTION:
How to take care of your box braids and your hair while its in them?
Hello, I just got my box braids a week ago, and iv been concerned on wether my hair is healthy with them in. Lately Iv been oiling my scalp everyday and applying organic shea butter mosturizer to my hair while in the braids then after I apply almond oil onto my hair to seal the moisture in. So now that its been a week I was wondering if I could shampoo and condition my hair while in these braids. Also I wanted to know why does the hair itch so much while in these braids?-
ANSWER:
I'm a hair stylist, you do not need to oil/grease your scalp everyday, twice a week is good, oiling your scalp everyday can clog up your pores and minimize your hair growth, yes! can wash your hair while you have braids, do not keep the braids more then 2mos, after a while your natural hair strats turning into dreads, and you don't want that.

QUESTION:
How can I make my hair grow longer?
I have black tightly curled hair. My hair has never been permed, relaxed or texturizer before. It cropped to my neck. I have never dyed it before. I always wear my hair out and only put my hair in a bun when I go to sleep. I wear a silk scarf to protect it and I use combs not brushes. My last hair trimming has been june 17 and I have been using DooGro organic products and using olive oil, shea butter oil, carrot oil, vitamin E oil, Tea Tree Oil, Jojoba oil for a few weeks, I eat pretty healthy like 1400-1600 calories a day.-
ANSWER:
It sounds like you are taking very good care of your hair. A healthy persons hair should on average, grow one half inch per month. The bad news is that with your hair being curly, it is harder to tell that your hair is getting longer. You are supposed to get your hair trimmed every 6 - 8 weeks to remove split ends.So if you think about it, when you are getting a trim every 8 weeks and they are removing 1/2 inch to an inch, they are removing the same amount that has grown in. I also wonder about all the product that you are using, If you are using that many oils you are definately clogging your hair follicles. I would ask your stylist exactly which ones you should be using and remove the others from your hair care regimen. Also I would remind your stylist when you sit in their chair, that you _only__ want the split or dead ends removed. Lastly, don't give up, your hair will eventually get as long as you want it. At least you know that you are taking very good care of the hair you have now, while waiting for the length you desire to grow in.

QUESTION:
Can fatty foods help get rid of gray hair?
In recent weeks, I have been trying to raise my "good" HDL cholesterol. I have been eating lots and lots of healthy mono-unsaturated fats ... stuff like olive oil, peanut butter, peanuts, fresh salmon. I may be imagining this, but it sure looks like my gray hair is turning back to the brown shade I had many, many years ago. (I am 63 years old.) Has anybody heard of diet changes, especially fatty foods, helping to get rid of gray hair ... or am I delusional?
In response to some of the comments: (1) No, it's not just a matter of my gray hairs falling out. If anything, my hair is fuller than ever. (2) The more I look in the mirror, the more sure I am that the brown really is coming back. I don't know that the fatty foods would explain it, because I have been trying other things recently, but the fatty foods seem to be the major change. I admit, it sounds really crazy, but it's a dramatic change.
Sorry to belabor the point ... but I also noticed in recent weeks that my dry flaky skin has cleared up. I had really big problems with flaky skin on my face and legs, and I suspect that is also improved by the fatty foods. I know many people say to avoid fats, but the mono-unsaturated fats seem to be doing me a lot of good.-

Q. Does diet affect my hair?
A. Yes! Here are some ideas to "build" better hair from the inside out...
Eat more protein rich foods.
Supplements of choline and inositol help hair development
Supplements of tyrosine (an amino acid) play a vital role in hair growth
Supplements of B vitamins help produce healthy hair
Supplements of biotin, cysteine, and cystine aid in healthy hair growthQ. Why does hair turn grey and what can I do about it?
A. In the aging process the hair bulb produces less hair pigment (melanin). The absence of pigment in the cortical layer of the hair makes the hair clear (or grey). Although not scientifically proven, large amounts of the vitamin PABA (you can buy it at health food stores) may slow this process. Also supplements of biotin, tyrosine, B-vitamins, cystine, inositol, and choline will produce healthier hair.Wow, if you found a combination that turned by the gray hair to it's earlier color, women everywhere will line up for it.

QUESTION:
Redken Smooth Down Butter or Joico Intense Hydrator?
Hi,I was wondering which one is better to use with the Joico Kpak Protien Reconstructor? My hair is dry and not healthy with all the colouring and heat styling.
I know the Butter Treat is moisture based, but I think Intense Hydrator may be both protien and moisture so I was a bit nervous to use 2 products containg protien.
Which one is better to use?
-
ANSWER:
be careful with the protein stuff, even though it sounds beneficial! too many uses, or too long left on, and it can actually have the opposite effect that you want. redken products work really well immediately, and over time will actually improve the texture of your hair.

QUESTION:
Anyone else OVERWHELMED by all the different advice about staying healthy!?
Every day I hear different things about how to stay healthy.
Whether to use butter or oil to cook with. Drinking hot water or cold water. When's the best time to drink water. Don't drink after meals dont drink before meals. blah. blah. blah???? I can't process it!
it's the same with beauty care. like looking after your skin and hair and everything. Theres just way too much information to listen and process.
oh and preventing diseases. way to much information on what foods prevent disease and encourage it!!!!
Does anyone else feel like this!!!!???? I'm just so confused and in the end I just end up doing it all wrong and ignoring all the advice!
Is there a book or website which just tells you straight facts of what you have to do to be healthy and to look after your hair/skin etc!!!
-
ANSWER:
Unfortunately Not... All the information that is shoved down our throats is either miss-directed information or is there to get us to buy something. The best areas for health issues are those that are none profit making, either medical or government supported agencies.
The other factor is down to the human body; each of us is different so what works for one person will not necessarily work for someone else.
When it comes down to it the cosmetic industry have the monopoly on confusion. Which they rely on to sell their products.
A dermatologist (Hospital) is the only person who can best advise you on the best skin care. He has no axe to grind, just sound medical advice.
Try these sites for straight forward advice:
http://www.eatwell.gov.uk/
http://www.nutrition.org.uk/home.asp?siteId=43§ionId=s
http://www.nutritiondata.com/One thing to remember is that if you eat healthly your skin will follow suit as will your hair.
I know exaclty how you feel I used to get the same questions day after day.

QUESTION:
Which is best to put on my scalp and edges for moisturizer and growth: Olive oil, Carrot Oil, Coco butter...?
I'm african american, as you can tell by the Avatar!! I just received a relaxer, got a short cut, and plan to grow my hair out into a reay nice healthy head of hair. I'm just confused on which is the best for moisture and growth.-
ANSWER:
On an average hair on the head grows at the rate of approximately 0.5 mm daily. This rate of growth also depends on genetic factors, diet, lifestyle and age of the person. While it may not be possible to have long hair overnight, you can use home remedies to make your hair grow faster. Some of the home remedies are:1. Hair is made up of protein, so eat foods which contain plenty of protein like fish, eggs, liver, milk products, yeast, wheat germ, sprouts, beans, nuts and yoghurt. Soy protein which is found in tofu also helps.
2. Since hair reflects the overall health of a person, vitamin supplements or fresh food containing the vitamins should be part of the daily diet. Vitamin B complex, biotin and carotene (contained in carrots, yellow fruits and vegetable) are important.
3. Hot oil massages improve the circulation of blood in the scalp and make your hair grow faster. Coconut oil should be applied to the hair for at least an hour so that it is absorbed properly and then washed off. Castor oil can also be used.
4. Trim your hair often, at least once in 5-6 weeks, so that split ends and dry hair are removed. Hair stops growing at the split ends.
5. Apply egg white and neem to your hair. Wash after 3 hours. Alternately, mix eggs and olive oil and apply the mixture to your scalp.
6.Brushing your hair once in the morning and evening improves the circulation in the scalp and makes your hair grow faster. Massaging the scalp with your fingertips also helps improve circulation.
7. Do not blow dry your hair. If possible wash your hair only once a week, with cold water since hot water and harsh shampoos can damage the hair.
8. Drink plenty of water and sleep for 8 - 9 hours a day, since hair grows when a person is resting. Exercising daily will also improve the blood circulation and help your hair grow quickly. Hair grows faster when there is less stress.

QUESTION:
How to keep natural 4b/c hair moisturized, looking and feeling healthy in the winter months?
How do you keep your 4B/4C hair moisturized? When my hair was only a few inches long i could spray it with water and add my care-free-curl (on orange and red bottle) and EVOO , pick it out and keep it moving.
Now my hair is about 7 inches at the longest, and its the winter season here. My weekly regimine has just been co-washing, adding oil and shea butter and putting a satin bonnet on at night. in the morning i might spray it with some water and conditioner, puff it out andk eep it moving. But my hair is sooo dry. Sometimes , ill twist it up, but after about 2 days its back to being dry and brittle looking.
Besides twisting, what hairstyles do you recommend? I was thinking about buying a fake pony tail and wearing that, keeping my hair underneath in the bun baggy'd.
I normally cowash with Suave humectants and/or Herbal Esscence Hello Hydration, use EVOO and shea butter, and lately ive also been using baby aloe vera gel.
Any suggestions?

The shea butter should be enough to keep it moisturized. If not, your using the wrong butter. Is it unrefined, or refined. If your not sure, yellow is what you want, not white shea butter. For help with your natural hair styles, youtube is your best friend. There is this girl prettydimples01 on youtube that has over 100 vids offering how to's and styles.

ANSWER:
Hi,if you have split end's or you get any you will need a protein treatment I use Aphogee Two Step Protein Treatment. It will help you seal the split ends, but this is a hard core protein treatment and it is not to be played with, so if your hair is not that damaged just try Nexxus Emergencee, I got rid of my split ends with this product with ought having to chop my Hair is maid out of protein therefor it needs protein but since your hair has gotten a lot of heat you probably need the ApHogee. Afteer finishing the protein treatment you should fallow up with a good Deep Conditioner, I use Biolage Conditioning Balm, I understand that right now your might be on a budget but if your not, give it a try if so try Mixani H20. On the mean time use any deep conditioner that you have at home and make sure it contains no protein. you really need to stop with the straightners, If you really can't live withought it, just tone it down and wrap your hair around your head at night time to avoid having to flat iron the next day. I had my hair split end's free and then I started again with my Chi, and i had to chop 1/4 inch last night, so please it does not only cause split ends, it thins your hair out. Consider the other options.
hope this help =)

QUESTION:
Ethnic hair question?
is it better to have natural hair or permed hair. my hair dresser does both types of hair, which is a plus for me, but i'm trying new things out and i'm curious about switching to natural hair. just so that my hair can be healthy and stronger. oh btw, is putting natural shea butter in your hair good for helping it grow and stay strong?-
ANSWER:
Hello. My hair is natural. After not getting a relaxer for almost a year, I cut the remaining relaxed hair off so its completely natural now. It's great because I can swim & wash my hair as often as I like without worrying about breakage (keep it moisturized of course). I can wear it curly, afro, or press it out, so its very versatile. Also, w/ natural hair, you can use color w/o worrying too much about damaging the hair. When you have a relaxer, your hair is more likely to get damaged if you color since you will have 2 chemical processes in your hair. Personally, I think getting rid of the perm gives you a lot of freedom. (No more, running from the rain & stuff like that) It's a big change, but you get used to it and embrace it and end up loving it. Also, w/ natural hair, its going to grow a lot longer than it would if relaxed. You will need to invest in some good hair products. Go online to find the info about how to take care of your natural hair, b/c it is a little different from taking care of permed hair. http://www.motowngirl.com, http://www.nappturality.com, and http://www.naturalhair.org/ are some good sites for products and for info/support while transitioning from relaxed to natural.
Some products I recommend are (1) Taliah Waajid's Protective Mist Bodifier (it's a great smelling leave-in conditioner that you can order from naturalhair.org or pick it up at Whole Foods), (2) any Aveda products especially their shampoos, conditioners, & Brilliant anti-humectant pomade, (3) Biosilk silk therapy (its an oil-free glosser stuff, kind of pricey though), and (4) Aubrey Organics makes the best conditioner I've ever sued. This is available at the Vitamin Shoppe & they have a website http://www.aubrey-organics.com/. Also, if you're going to press your hair out, use a good straightener. I recommend the FHI Heat Platform. It gets your hair straight, plus makes it shiny, and bouncy without the damage of normal straighteners. I am not sure about shea butter. I've never used it in my hair. Just stay away from petroleum based moisturizers like hair grease. Always look at the ingredients when you buy products. They clog your scalp, cause acne, and these moisturizers don't actually penetrate the hair shaft. So they don't truly moisturize, they just sit on the hair shaft and make your hair greasy. All natural products are best.
I think you should go for it. Just be prepared to make the change. Besides, if you don't like it, or find your hair hard to manage, you can go back to relaxing so there is nothing lost if you make the change! good luck

QUESTION:
How do I get motivated to keep healthy when ive a face that ruins a good looking body anyway.. butter-face?
Well... i guess i'm a typical butter-faced girl. Ive always put so much effort into keeping myself fit and slim as an attempt to compensate for my unattractive face. However lately i'm just starting to lose hope.. it's just not working.. I have never had a serious boyfriend and i know it's because of my face.. the effort i put into keeping slim seems like it's all in vain.
I have joined those typical 'loser' dating sites and all you do is take a picture of your face and plaster it all over the site... what am i supposed to do? I know people say to just flaunt the best part of yourself but that seems more like im begging for attention.. its difficult to show that i do have at least one or two attractive qualities when the main thing is about your face..
ehh.. i dunno i try to make my hair nice and i dress as neatly and smart as i possibly can.. none of it seems to draw any attention away from my face.. i don't know what to do =(

QUESTION:
African American Hair care.?
African American Hair care.Hello I've recently decided to grow my hair out and go all natural but i have a lot of questions that i hope someone can answer.
I'm a 23 year old male I'm part African American and Native American, my hair is more on the side of my African American gene, I'm looking for some good healthy products for my hair to make it healthy, strong, and beautiful. Ive been using Head and Shoulder's shampoo for a few years now and i would like to switch to something different "Sulfate Free" Shampoos and Conditioners. I have no idea what to use. Some people were telling me "Kinky-Curly" and "Mane N' Tail" I was also told that if i wanted really good hair to "Co-wash" rather than wash my hair. if so whats a good Conditioner to go with. I'm also looking for a good all natural hair oil. the only natural thing I'm using on my hair now is Unrefined Shea butter. and it is pretty good. All tips, advice, and procedures, welcome.

QUESTION:
hair relaxer .. processing time?!?!?
hi, im an hispanic guy and my hair is coarse, short and curly like the one in the picture (exept on the top , where its curlier)
http://blstb.msn.com/i/B4/67987D840C9B3627116E2DF6DBC3C.jpg
my hair is super thick on the top and front of my head, on the sides its kinda thin, and on the back its normal..
so i cut some of the curliest curls i could find on the top of my head and did like 4 strand tests ... i bought the mizani butter blend hair relaxer (lye, regular strenght) and after leaving the relaxer on the hair for about 20 minutes (which is maximum recommended time for thick hair according to the directions) the hair came out really nice and straight.. even after conditioning and neutralizing it..but then, as it air dried, it kinda curled a bit, and when it was totally dry, i formed a loose curl..
im not like super frustrated because it felt healthy and it wasnt a tight curl.. plus im sure the hair on the sides, the front and back will come out really straight because its less thick and less curly... but i dont really want to have to flat iron the top part everyday cuz i sweat like crazy and i work out everyday... so basically my question is:
Can i leave the relaxer on the most resistant and curliest areas for some more minutes than the recommended time.. i know it says the longest it can be left on hair is 20 min, but will 3, 4 or 5 extra minutes do a lot of damage???when smoothing out the hair with a comb, how should this be done? like just combing the hair straight ?? (i know i must avoid combing the scalp =) )
oh! and when applying the relaxer, do you have to start counting time after you have the relaxer all on the hair, or as soon as you start applying it??
plz dont tell me to go and see a profesional stylist because trust me, where i live nobody even knows what a hair relaxer is lol .. and srry if my english sucks but im mexican and spanish is my native language
Thanks a lot everybody!! <3
-
ANSWER:
I believe you can leave it on for a few more minutes, but I also believe this depends on the individual. When putting relaxers in my sister-in-law's hair, I typically leave it in for 30 mins (sometimes a little more because she has really coarse hair) and only 20 mins in mine, achieving the same results (we use the same brand). When I smooth it out, sometimes I "comb" it through gently, but normally I use the back of the rat tail comb that I use to separate the sections of the hair or the length of my finger (while wearing gloves).
As far as the time goes, I make a note of the time I start applying so that I know how long it's been in the back of my head and note the time I finish to keep track of how long it's been in the front of my head (I start from the back and end in the front). I think you should pay more attention to the time that you got all of the relaxer in the head to make sure that the section you ended with is exposed to the chemical for the proper length of time. And I always try to put it on the more stubborn parts of the head first so it will be in there longer than the parts of my head that aren't so fussy.
I know it isn't much but I hope it helps some! Good Luck!

QUESTION:
MAJOR causes of hair loss vs simple maintanence?
Okay, I KNOW that its important for optimum hair health for it to be healthy from inside/root by good nutrition and maybe vitamins AND the length by propper trims, conditioning, an maybe hot oils at all times. What I really want to know is simple: if someone suddenly experienced major hair loss because of stress or a pregnancy (both which are known to cause hair loss) or whatever other reason, would suddenly cutting their length off or deep conditioning it/maintaning it form the outside make any difference since the cause was something so sudden that generally I would imagine it might not matter? My opinion is that if the hair was going to fall off because of major events as I mentioned, it won't matter if your hair on the outside (which is already dead) is long or short, has split ends or is soft as butter. Does this make sense? I'm only referring to outside treatment not nutrition or vitamin etc.-
ANSWER:
There is nothing you can do when it comes to sudden hair loss, you have to let it take it's course of shedding. A doctor could say that it is normal for hair loss to happen during pregnancy this type of hair loss is called Postpartum Alopecia and is experienced at the conclusion of pregnancy. This sudden hair loss can happen in excess and last three to nine months after delivery. Normal growth cycles usually return w/in a year.
Alopecia Areata is the sudden falling out of hair in round patches or baldness in spots; can appear elsewhere on the body. This type is highly unpredictable and is usually an autoimmune disease that cause the affected hair follicles to be mistakenly attacked by the person's own immune system, with white blood cells stopping hair growth. (caused by Stress or other health problem)
When someone has delivered their child I suggest to always continue taking prenatal vitamins and iron so that the blood can keep receiving more nutrients. The hair always receive nutrients from the inner body. A balanced diet and exercise can stimulate hair growth.
Types of food to stay away from during this time of hair loss:
ALL JUNK FOOD: Pizza, chips, candy, etc.
Soda: Diet Pepsi, anything diet
Sugars or Fake Sugars: Splenda, Phenylalanines (splenda is a phenylalanine, do your research this sugar is in just about every sweet food; when you are in a grocery line check the back of a package of Trident and you will see it) are in alot of sweet candies, sodas, and gums, also be careful of splenda in yogurts or sweet waters
Fried Foods: chicken, fries, etc. (deep fried foods that is..)
Grains & Wheat: oatmeal, did you know that oatmeal can turn to fungus? (research it)Foods to nourish your body during this time of sudden loss of hair:
Water, Water, Water: Add a lemon, lime or orange
ALL RAW VEGGIES
ALL RAW FRUITS
Raw veggie and fruit smoothies
Flaxseed oil: you can find recipes on the web; mix with salad or mix with orange juice and pour on salad to taste
Fish Oils
Coconut Oils
Olive Oils
Dried Fruits & Veggies
Fish: Salmon, Tuna, HalibutI could go on and on about this stuff...but I do reccomend these things b/c the more you feed your body REAL FRESH foods, it wil love you for it.
NOTE: For someone whose body is not used to RAW Foods, they may feel ill because the body is not used to this type.

QUESTION:
African American hair care help?
I am an African American girl who is 17.
I have very fine hair and I just went natural. When straightened, my hair reaches to my neck. I just had a couple of questions. Thanks!! (Would also prefer to hear from professional stylists or women who know what they are talking about please. My hair has been through so much to be listening to people who don't know what they are talking about). Again, thank you! =)1. I wash my hair once a week, following up with deep conditioning. I heard sulfates in shampoo are bad for your hair. What is a good sulfate-free shampoo that can be bought at a Walmart, Target, or at Sally's Beauty Supply store?
Also, what is the BEST brand to use for my type of hair? I went from using Organic Root Stimulator to Silk Elements to Suave. I don't know which one is best? I heard Nexxus is really good and another brand called Giovanni. I have also been used the Cantu Shea Butter as a leave-in conditioner. Know any other leave-in conditioners that are really healthy for my hair?
2. I have been using corn rows for my hair. Since winter is approaching, I definitely like to wear braids because it saves me time and a headache. Is it bad to do corn rows all the time? My hair is still short, so I don't prefer to straighten it at school. I really want to keep it in braids...
3. My edges (hair line) is VERY fine. I really want to grow it thicker. How can I do this?
Thank you so much!!!
-
ANSWER:
1.Not all types of sulfate are bad for your hair. Such as the ingredients, sodium laureth sulfate or sodium lauryl sulfate is gentle to hair and is in majority of shampoos at beauty supply stores. So don't worry about using a shampoo that has that ingredient in it. I use Cream of Nature shampoo, it contains one of the good sulfates I mentioned, sodium laureth sulfate and it never leaves my hair feeling stripped. Trust me, cream of nature is a good product. Now, the sulfate you should worry about is the former sodium lauryl. That ingredient is drying to hair and should be avoided. For the leave in conditioner, I use Shea Mositure Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner. Another good leave in is Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship leave in split end protector.2.As long as you or whoever is braiding your hair doesn't pull so hard especially at your hair edges, then it's okay to wear braids.
3. To grow your egdes thicker, there is this product online called Jamaican Black Castor Oil. If you look it up on google, you will see that it really helped a lot of people. So you can order the Jamaican Black Castor Oil online on amazon.com or go to your local store and but the regular Castor oil. That should work as well. Also, take a multivitamin daily such as Nature's Bounty hair, skin, and nails mulitivitamin.

QUESTION:
Help with my hair? Bi-racial hair problem..Please help?!?
Hello, I'm half african american and mexican and i'm 14. I'm trying to learn how to do my hair since my mom doesn't know how to, and my dad is oblivious to it. I've used to straighten, dye, and perm my hair but i've been watching all those natural videos and decided not to. Because of this, now whenever I wash it, it dries out straight. And I want my hair to have more spiral curls in it. I just got soft-twist rollers, leave in growth treatment (Doo Gro), a deep conditioning crean, shea butter leave-in conditoning repair cream, and optimum oil therapy. I don't know what to do AT ALL so can anyone help me. My old salon person said I had healthy and beautiful hair (I was surprised) so I don't think its crazy damaged. I just want my original texture back. Thanks :]-
ANSWER:
Wash and condition your hair and then allow it to dry completely.Use whatever leave in treatments while it is still damp.
Grab a 1 inch section of your hair and use a comb to comb in a little bit of water and mousse.
Twirl the hair around the soft twist rollers up to the root and repeat the same thing until your entire head is covered in rollers.
Leave this in overnight and you should have bouncy spiral curls!
You can also achieve this look using a flat iron:

QUESTION:
Can I use body butter to moisturize my scalp?
I just read an article that said that shea butter was great for keeping the scalp healthy and treat dandruff. I've also heard that jojoba oil is a great treatment not only for the scalp but to condition hair. I have this body butter from Bath &Body Works, and read the ingrediets and it contains both shea butter and jojoba oil. The rest of the ingrediets are mostly oils like olive, soybean, and rice oil, and oats and fruit extracts. It also contains panthenol which I know for a fact that is good for hair, but I still don't know if it's a good idea cause I dont know what the other ingredients would do to my hair (I'm not a chemist). What do you think? What ingredietns should I look for that could damage my hair or make it greasy? Thank you for your help!!
I also think that cherry blossom would give my hair a great smell

ANSWER:
Hi,Hair loss is a very common problem among people. In most cases abnormal loosing of hair is a sign of health problems. What is abnormal loosing of hair? Do not panic if you loose from 50 to 100 hair per day – this is normal. If you clearly lose more or you see hairless spots on your head – see your doctor.
So 50-100 strands of hair loss is totally normal and in limits, but if you still want to have stronger hair against hair loss, i advice you to check the following web page, where you can find recent best 10 shampoos that help you to recover from your hair loss problem and they are really great. The page ALSO has information about the possible reasons of hair loss.
http://www.iknowhair.com/hair-loss-shampoo
I advice you to give Nioxin a try. In the web page above you will also find some other information than just shampoos, such as how to prevent hair loss and what are the common reasons of it..
Hope this can help.

QUESTION:
NATURAL HAIR Regimen?!?!? Natural sisters please answer!! Sorry it's a tad bit long!?
Hello hello!!I'm newly natural. Transitioned for only 3 months. 2 months on the 19th of February!! About 1 1/4 inches long.YAY!
Okay I've been stalking youtube trying to find a hair care regimen that is very easy with only a few (CHEAP lol) products. I couldn't find one that I truly liked so this is what I came up with using black soap, suave natural and professional conditioner, leave in conditioner, coconut oil and castor oil.:
Every 3 weeks I'll wash my hair with organic black soap then deep condition with a mixture of castor oil and suave professionals almond and shea butter conditioner for about 3 hours.
In between the wash/ deep condition I'll co- wash my hair with suave naturals coconut conditioner then put some coconut oil to seal in the moisture weekly.
Everyday i'll alternate between the two: One day I'll moisturize my hair with water since the day before i co- washed or deep conditioned my hair. I'll seal it in with castor oil. Or I'll put in some Giovanni leave in conditioner and seal it in with coconut oil.
Oh and when my hair gets to a decent length I'll use eco styler gel or hollywood beauty olive oil hairdress for hairstyles like wet and go's, twists, braids, twist outs, braid outs, flat twists, puff, bantu knot out, etc.
Is this a good idea?? I stayed away from SLS, mineral oil, and petroleum. It's about 8 products in total. Most are natural products and if not I checked the ingredients to make sure they were okay.
Also, I was going to alternate between extensions (braids) and my natural hair to grow it out. March, May, July, and September I'll wear my natural hair. April, June, and August I'll have extensions in. By September 19th I'll be 9 months natural. How should I take care of my natural hair while its still in the extensions? I still want the weave to look nice since I'll be keeping it in for a month. If this works out how long and healthy do you think my hair will be when school starts again in early September?? I'll be a Junior! I want hair hair to be long enough to be in a cute afros, to do twists etc.
Questions in a nut shell-
1.Is this a good hair regimen??
2.How should I take care of my natural hair while its still in the extensions?
3.If this works out how long and healthy do you think my hair will be when school starts again in early September??Tips/suggestions will highly be put into play! I'm only trying to use products I can find in stores and that is cheap.
Thank you!!

By this I am taking that you are an African American women. Well, I am an African American young teen and my hair is half way to my butt(lol). IF you are wondering yes I am full black both of my parents are full black. One thing I do all the time is just brush and massage my roots with a paddle brush NOT BRISTLE. Anyway, do this every day night and pretty much whenever you get a chance and you will see a major growth in your hair because it is opening up your roots allowing your hair to sprout. Additionally, if you ever see a split end pull it out from the root and three more heallthy hairs will sprout. Also, try to stay away from greases and gels and sprays for it clogs your roots to where your hair will not grow oh and avoid perms and relaxers as well. All my life I have never had one perm or relaxer. Good luck, hope your hair grows!!!!

QUESTION:
Worried about damaged hair around edges from dandruff?
Hello,
I have natural spiral/curly/kinky hair (around a 4b type) and I am noticing that a few spot on the edge of my hair (around the forehead by the widow's peak) had became red with scabby dandruff. I have been suffering from really bad dandruff problems for a while. The dandruff have even caused some slight discoloration around the edge around the widow's peak. When they arrive they do not look like small flakes but dark scabs. When I put water on the edge they peel of easily but without moisture they can be a little painful and stick to my scalp. When I peel them off they leave behind a red mark and the skin is lighter than the rest of my face. I am noticing that the hair is thinning a little in some spots. I don't wear tight bands; it is usually is a loose afro. I have tried putting my hair is loose twist because I heard that braids and twist could help the hair grow as long as they are not too tight. I oil my hair regularly with cantu shea butter (no petroleum or anything) and miss jessie's natural hair care products. I also wash every three days or so with T-gel shampoo, Pureology smoothing shampoo or Miss Jessie's shampoos and condition with Alba conditioner or Miss Jessie's conditioner. Every few weeks I do a deep conditioner. I eat healthy and workout regularly. I don't really know what else to do and I am very worried about my edges and dandruff problem. Any suggestions?-

Can you help me loose weight the healthy way? 10 PTS best answer?
I am an African American female. Here are my stats.Height: 5'3
Weight: 150 lbs
Moderate Activity, I work out every other day for three weeks now with this toning kit I bought at GNCI plan to start working on the toning every day and doing cardio every other day.
My body type is sort of a pear most of my fat is at my waist. I am muscle and toned everywhere else. I just want to loose my belly but I have been working out everywhere. My problem is that in addition to working out (and loosing ten pounds) I have been drastically cutting calories. It is not that I don't eat (because I eat three meals and snack in between) but I have been trying to control my temptations to eat (because I used to eat when I was bored etc.) My fear is that when I looked up my metabolism rates and stuff it said i needed about 1900 calories to maintain my metabolic rate and loose weight.
However I know for a fact that I'm probably getting under 1000 calories a day, I have trained myself not to want so much food (I used to eat close to 4000 calories)
What I eat on a normal day
Morning
A cup of Lipton Tea with Lemon and sugar
Two slices of bread with some butter
Vitamins (Hair, Body, Skin)Afternoon
A Bottled Water
A Slice of PizzaSnack
Maybe a Handful of Chips
Maybe four or five crackers
A Hershey Candy BarDinner
Some Rice (maybe with beans)
Sometimes Some Chicken or Macaroni and CheeseI NEED HELP
I want to loose weight and look better but I don't want to be counter active in my progress. I want to loose the weight and keep it off.
I want everyone to understand that I am not eating this way on purpose; im just not that hungry anymore-
ANSWER:
Ok, what you need to do is look up the food pyramid. Follow the recommended servings. And pay attention to serving size. You'd be surprised at how small they are if you physically measured things more. You need about 1900 -2000 calories a day if you want to lose weight because if you are exercising more than you're getting adequate nutrition, instead of your body processing and getting rid of excess things, it'll hord everything and convert it to fat. If you walk for about a half hour when you first wake up in the morning and drink a glass of water before you eat, it'll help kick-start your metabolism. Other than that, like I said, make sure you eat the way it says on the food pyramids. Carbs are generally better eaten early in the day as opposed to bed time. More lean protein at night. And beware of sugary drinks. Most people aren't aware how many calories they're getting because they don't count what they drink.

I use spray on moisturizer and it does not seem to be enough.I have heard using pure Olive Oil is a good moisturize and promotes healthy growth. Any thoughts?

If you don't wash or rinse your hair very often I'd advise you to not use pure olive oil. Seems like you do need a good oil though. To keep the scalp moist spritz on water then apply tea tree oil.you can go to this site to ask more questions and get answers and helpful tips

I am female...32 years old...My mother has actually mentioned a thyroid problem...I think I will have that checked...I have lost a lot of weight with my new workout program and healthy diet..that could play a part also..I will try and eat more carrots, maybe that is a good idea...I don't think I have an eating disorder, I just eat very specific and am very strict about what I eat, but I do eat..and I don't throw it up. I don't think it's something I am just noticing more, it really is coming out at a much faster rate than it should be...everytime I reach up and put my fingers through my hair, lots of it come out..I have it on my clothes all the time. I am gonna have to just break down and make a dr's appt and have some bloodwork I think...I do not take vitamins..What do some of you suggest for a vitamin? Just multi? Or a specific kind?-
ANSWER:
It seems that B vitamins are highly related to hair.I have had thinning hair too. Due to being vegan or not, I didn' t know. I know lots of my friend that are either fully bald or going bald and they are not vegan at all. I tried changing my diet in many ways, adding more B Vitamins for one... herbs, vitamins, supplements, scalp stimulation, ... shampooing more, shampooing less, .... And nothing over the years helped. Well, I went on a working holiday vacation for one year in a different country. I always thought of myself as being totally free of stress, but I discovered that I felt totally relaxed and that I was actually very stressed out without knowing it, because it was just such a part of my daily life. I was SOOOO free of stress that I was amazed at how fully relaxed (I can't think of a better word to describe the feeling -- it was like nirvana or something) I found that my thinning hair is completely connected to stress. After my year vacation, my hair had grown back. My closest friend was amazed. Slowly it started thinning again over the years, but about 6 months ago, I had the most stressful traumatic event of my life happen and I was so stressed out that I became physically sick for a good two months straight -- I was stressed to the max... my world was flip turned upside down, I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, still had to go to work... and my hair started falling out really fast. Stress is physical and hormonal. I guess it just stimulates testosterone, which is apparently what hinders the growth of hair on one's head (but seems to stimulate the growth of hair on the eyebrows and ears and other odd places, huh??). I find it very difficult to shake the daily stress of life unless I'm totally removed from it all.
Female hormonal problems also cause hair loss. Your hair can literally start falling out in huge clumps when female hormones are thrown out of whack. Pregnancy being the most obvious time this happens.
If you want to take a vitamin just in case, try spirulina. It has all you could ever need, plus it's not manufactured in a lab (i.e. fake vitamins), it's a whole food.

QUESTION:
Dark Brown to Honey Butter Blonde?
I have about shoulder-length dark brown hair that I am thinking about dying using Garnier Nutrisse's 93 Honey Butter. I also wear glasses that have dark purple frames. My hair is pretty fine which is why I had concerns about using this product. My hair produces A LOT of natural oil though and it is pretty healthy. I don't straighten or curl my hair more than 3/4 times a month but I blow dry my hair quite often. My hair is definitely not dry and I don't use conditioner when washing my hair although I will when I dye my hair. Anyway, it is my first time dying my hair so I wanted your opinion! Please and thank you! ^-^
P.S if you know any DEPENDABLE was if dying hair light blonde using ORGANIC/NATURAL products that don't cost truck loads of cash, pls pls pls let me know!!!!!!
-
ANSWER:
Don't mix dye kits.Playing with chemicals is not like playing with clothes, there are penalties for playing chemicals in the lab. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair. Even salon cause mistake on their own hair

QUESTION:
i bleached my hair and it looks terrible?
just yesterday i decided to do an all over bleaching and blonde coloring. a huge step in my life... i am a natural auburn girl my range is a 7, I was planning to go to a 9. my hair is really long.. i love it. but i decided to go blonde. once we bleached my hair i was upset to see all the gold left in my hair, and to feel how matted it had actually became due to the bleach, but my friend (who went to aveda and did my hair before and i LOVED it!) assured me that it was alright. I used a demi permanent color to color my hair, (it managed to detangle my hair pretty well..) it was suppose to turn out to a real light golden blonde.. instead it looks like i have butter all over my head! I feel really bad for my friend, i know she didnt mean it, we just didnt account in the factor that my hair is naturally red.So now, due to that whole ordeal i want to color my hair back right away. My friend did cut my hair (and i love it!), so its pretty healthy feeling. Is it alright to color my hair back tonight?

QUESTION:
Healthy Hair?
I heard that washing your hair every day isn't healthy, but if I don't wash it very day my hair gets very greasy. What should I do?-
ANSWER:
--Well, I've heard that it is bad to wash it everyday because the hair loses oils and moisture... sometimes leading to a dry scalp... personaly I dont wash my hair once or twice in a week.--It also Depends on your hair type and if you wear caps or sweat a lot. If you have oily hair, washing it everyday will work the oil glands and keep it oily. If your hair is dry, washing it everyday can keep it dry. Use a salon shampoo that is pH balanced and right for your type of hair. Check with your stylist for the best. Salon shampoos and conditioners can cost a little more but they are best for your hair.
--Wash your hair everyday!! It's healthy because it cleans your hair. But dont wash it more than once a day, because the oils in your hair will get washed out making your hair dry!
If you dont want your hair to get greasy, then wash your hair everday and make sure to use the right shampoo, conditioner, oil, and anti-frizz creme! Those are all the hair products I use and i always get compliments on my hair! If you follow my tips, you will get as many compliments too!
**Stay fresh and clean**
Happy grooming!

QUESTION:
Healthy hair?
What's considered healthy hair? I mean like I just want to know 'cause it's been a year since my hair used to be really short and I'd spike it with gel and since it's been a year it's the length to my chin, but it's not all even yet. Since it feels like it's been a while since my hair has been long I was wondering if it was healthy?-
ANSWER:
Healthy hair can be natural or chemically treated. Do you use professional products? If not you could have a build up on your hair. Do you use a deep conditioner? Do you have curly hair, it is naturally more dry. Do over process your hair (colours/perms), if yes it could be more dry. I am a hair stylist and it would be hard to say without seeing/touching your hair, I suggest you go to a hair salon and ask what they think and recommend! If you stretch a hair shaft (while wet) and it is able to stretch about 50% AND return to normal, your hair is in good shape.

QUESTION:
What are some inexpensive hair products that will keep my hair healthy?
I have always had very healthy hair and I have only dyed it a few times. I now prefer to leave it at it's natural color as dyes are not good for your hair. My main concern is that, while my hair is healthy, my sister's hair is not and she has never dyed her hair. We are both looking for products that can promote healthy hair and keep out hair healthy. Does anyone know of any inexpensive products that do this?-
ANSWER:
You do not have to use expensive products to keep your hair healthy.
Healthy hair starts with a good hygien of life.Like everything else about true, lasting beauty, healthy hair begins within your body. Start with your diet. Include lots of green leafy vegetables and sweet juicy fruits. Dairy products such as milk and fresh yogurt will also help. Fresh coconut is also considered excellent "hair food" – sprinkle grated coconut over salads, diced fresh fruit, or rice.
Cut down on refined, processed and canned foods. Ice-cold beverages also hamper the process of digestion and assimilation of nutrients.
Cooking with certain spices adds flavor to your food and provides nourishment for your hair. Cumin, turmeric and black pepper are some "hair-friendly" spices. Add a healthy pinch of each to single-portion soups and stews as they are cooking.
Stress can be seriously injurious to long-term health and color of hair. Try and manage your time and tasks to minimize time-related pressures. Practice relaxation techniques such as meditation. Get adequate, good quality sleep to help the natural process of rejuvenation.
Stay away from harsh chemical topical products that can damage hair over time. Look for gentle, natural cleansers and conditioners, especially if you wash your hair more than three times a week. Shampoos and conditioners that contain nourishing botanicals are even better. Read labels carefully – sometimes, products that say "herbal" or "natural" can include no-no chemicals.
A warm oil scalp massage two or three times a week will help stimulate and moisturize the scalp. You can use good quality coconut, almond or olive oil. Apply some mildly warmed oil to your hair and gently massage into your scalp evenly with your fingertips. Leave on overnight if you can, if not, leave on for at least an hour or two, then get it out by shampooing your hair. The scalp massage helps you relax and aids sound sleep as well.
Never attack wet hair with a brush, no matter how rushed for time you are. Tangles in wet hair are best removed with a wide-toothed comb. Use a wooden comb if you can find one; it won't generate static electricity. Excessive blow-drying can damage hair in the long-term, making it brittle and causing split ends. If you can, let your hair dry naturally, then brush into place.
Last, but not least, brushing your hair regularly to stimulate the scalp will keep it looking healthy and lustrous. Brush each night in all directions in turn – left to right, right to left, front to back and back to front Use smooth long strokes from scalp to hair-tips.
All the best!

QUESTION:
What can i do to start growing healthy long hair?
I would lik to grow long, silky and healthy hair. I always keep my hair at slightly longer then shoulder length. When I started to let it grow longer, hair would start to fall. by the time i had them at my waist, my hair shape would be V-shaped, unhealthy and hair become lesser.I would lik to grow healthy long hair lik any other gals, please let me noe what shd i do to start growing my hair healthy so that my hair would not start falling?
I love any methods, vitamins, hair pdts and any other formulas.
I did not dye my hair. wat does healthy diet means? I eat veg, white meat, red meat and fruits daily. Lesser meat and more veg and meat. I mean my hair is thinning whn my hair get longer.-
ANSWER:
The longer your hair is, the ‘older’ the ends of it are. Everyday, wear and tear, such as sun, wind, blow drying, curling irons and other heat styling tools, even shampooing and brushing, all work together to gradually erode each hair. This eventually causes split ends that will, in turn, result in the hair breaking off. Don't believe in that myth of the 100 stokes a day. Just brush enough to distribute the oil from your scalp to the reswt of your hair.Hair grows at a different rate for each person. The best way to keep your growing strong is to keep it healthy and eat a good healthy diet as well. Food plays a big part in your skin and hair growth. And don't believe the empty promises of shampoos and supplements for faster hair growth.
Here are some hair growing tips:
Eliminate or cut back on smoking, caffeine and carbonated sodas which weaken the body and block maximum hair growing potential.
Eat a healthy diet that includes plenty of good protein, vitamins and minerals, specially iron. Try fish, poulty without skin, lean beef, eggs, and dairy products.
Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and beans.
Avoid foods that are high in sugar or fat.
Treat your hair like a piece of fine old lace. Treat it carefully avoiding any unnecessary brushing, combing or handling.
Avoid use of hot water, hot blow dryers or other hair care tools that may stress the hair.
Have a weekly scalp massage to provide stimulation to the hair follicles.
Do a series of ongoing hot oil treatments to protect the hair's shaft.
Have regular trims to eliminate split ends and allow the hair to look and feel healthier.
Get plenty of rest and sleep to allow your body to grow hair
Avoid stress!
If any of these tips work for you consult a dematologist you might have a condition that it makes your hair stop growing or to fall.

QUESTION:
Healthy hair is grown from inside out. What are the best foods for hair?
I know hair grows from the scalp, duh, but I also know what you eat determines alot how healthy your hair and scalp is. What are the best foods, fats, veggies etc for promoting healthy hair?-
ANSWER:
Beef
If you don't have high cholesterol, Thompson recommends eating red meat twice a week for optimal hair health. Not only does beef have the protein you need, but also B vitamins, iron, and zinc, important minerals for healthy hair.Eggs or Egg Whites
Vegetarian? Can't eat red meat for health reasons? Then egg whites are the way to go. "If you can't eat an animal protein, egg whites are the next best thing," says Thompson. "Their value is underestimated in our society."Brown Short-Grain Rice
You should have complex carbohydrates, which feed you energy over a longer period of time than refined carbohydrates, with your protein source at meals. Brown short-grain rice is an ideal form. It's also a good source of B vitamins and some fiber.Cottage Cheese
Try low-fat cottage cheese for a protein-packed breakfast or lunch on the go when you don't have time to make eggs. Top it with some fresh berries for an added serving of fruit. Plus, cottage cheese is also a good source of calcium.Bacon
Although it's not a good food to eat if you're trying to lose weight, eating a normal serving of bacon for extra B vitamins, zinc, and protein.Salmon
Try it smoked or fresh at breakfast, lunch, or dinner for a good dose of protein along with B vitamins, including B12, and other vitamins and minerals.

QUESTION:
What is the best product for healthy hair?
Okay, so I really really really want long hair! But the thing is I have really thick curly hair, and my ends are just horrible. I want something that will smooth out my hair, repair my ends and add tons of moisture to my hair. If you could, list a shampoo, conditioner, leave in conditioner/ cream, and something to protect my hair from heat damage. I straighten my hair. Umm I just want to grow my hair the healthy way, without cutting it. Its already a little more than a tad below shoulder length. Ten points to whoever gives me the best advice!-
ANSWER:
You said your hair was thick and curly so you will want to use products specially for your hair type. If you want long hair then you must keep the hair that is on your head healthy. Many people who want long hair forego getting haircuts. Well, if you have split ends, they will just keep splitting up the hair shaft and break ofr. Getting tiny trims every couple of months will help a lot!For products that will help your hair type's condition and allow for maximum growth, I would suggest the Graham Webb line of hair products. The ones that would be perfect for your hair are the Heat Response in Graham Webb. They are good if you have thick or dry hair and still need to straighten it.
You didn't mention if you straighten your hair temporarily with an iron or if you do it chemically. I will tell you that chemical straighteners are very caustic and damaging so you will want to totally condition and use good salon products. If you do it temporarily then the Heat Response line is good for protecting your hair while you do that.
Good luck!

QUESTION:
How do I keep my hair growing healthy?
I cut my hair about 2 months ago. I straightened it few times but then it's been a month that I didn't straighten my hair. Instead I use Tresemme hair mousse to keep my hair looking good. I am doing this so I will have my hair grow fast and healthy. But when it gets longer, i am planning to straighten it sometimes. I mean is it better to use mousse instead of straightening it or mousse is bad too? And what kind of shampoo and conditioner should I use for healthier hair. Tell me some good product names I can use for healthy hair. THX-
ANSWER:
The best thing you can do for your hair is to know what your putting in it your proberley putting so many harmful chemicals in it and dont even know it for exampleshampoos are horrible for your hair they ruin hair they strip the natural oils out of your hair and damages it then conditioner just covers up the damage, the shampoos we use daily are just detergent and water and the rest is harmful chemicals go to the skin database you can type in any product or ingrediant and it will give you a score on how harmful it is.
Use a soap based shampoo and use a vinegar rinse on your hair instead of a conditioner which just covers up the damage dosnt help it. look it up on google do research.
organic virgin coconut oil is great for hair you can buy a big jar from ebay for 5pound that will last for ages, it truly is a miracle product, itrs great for skin too.
jojoba oil is great for hair too, also herbal tea is great.
dont use products on your hair they just cover up the damage and cause more damage so you need to buy more products please dont be fooled.
when you sleep at night if you can wrap your hair in a silk scarf
when washing hair(you should wash your hair about 3 times a week doing more often just puts "fake" oils in your hair and when you stop washing it reguarly it gets greasy quicker and then its just a cycle)alternate between hot and cold water
eat healthy remember whatever you put IN and ON your body shows in your eyes hair nails and skin, the results from "big brand" products just coat your hair and skin with products that might seem to work but infact just do more damage in the long run. peace and please the best thing you can do for your hair and body is to give it the best things and thats not a 30pound "miracle shampoo" its natural pure ingrdiants that have the best benefits totally safe and great results in hair and skin.

QUESTION:
How to keep your colored hair super healthy?
I'm 14 , i live in a hot country and i have relatively healthy hair that i treat with deep conditioners. I dye my hair darker about every 2 months or less. If i continue dying how can i keep my hair healthy or healthier?-
ANSWER:
Use shampoo and conditioner that is designed for color treated hair. Since your hair is already dark, if you use the right shampoo and conditioner it shouldn't fade too much. So, then you can just put the new dye only on your roots and then when you have about 5 minutes of processing time left work it through to the ends. That way your ends will get less damaged and won't turn super dark from re-dying them so many times. Also, try to limit or eliminate your use of heat styling tools like hair dryers, flat irons, curling irons etc. If you do all of that you should be fine.

QUESTION:
What are some tips to really healthy hair?
I want to grow my hair out as soon as possible.
I'm wanting to grow it about...6 inches. So, that'll most likely take about a year, right?
So, what are your tips for really healthy hair? So that I can grow it out as soon as possible!
Thanks!-
ANSWER:
Try to wash your hair only every other day. This will help keep a good amount of natural oils in your hair and keep it healthy. If it seems a little oily on the second day, dust a little baby powder on it.Use good shampoo and conditioner and deep condition it once a week or so. The definition of "good" really depends on your hair. Some of the brands that claim to be equal to salon (Suave, Tresseme, one other I can't remember) don't do well in my hair, but Panteen Pro V and Garnie are great for me.
There are numerous home treatments for your hair, like avocado, hot oil, honey, egg, experiment and see what works best for you.
Try to limit the amount of styling you do to your hair (product, heat especially). This and keeping your hair well trimmed and free of split ends will help maintain the strength of your hair. Also, avoid over brushing (or just agressive brushing).
There's a link in the source box for more tips. Good luck, I've had super long (between breastline and waist) hair for years, and I'm cutting ten inches off for Locks of Love soon, so I'll be using these too.

I straighten my hair almost everyday and color it alot, which causes the damage to my hair. I'm just wondering what is the best shampoo and conditioner to get shiny, smooth, and healthy hair? also something cheap like around 3-8 dollars, and please don't say to stop coloring/straightening my hair.-

QUESTION:
What is the best natural shampoo/conditioner for healthy hair, and why?
Couple of questions. After I've learned about all the harsh chemicals in most shampoos and conditioners, like sodium lauryl sulfate and proplylene glycol, I've been on a mission to find good shampoos with natural ingredients. Then I do my research and some say that all those natural ingredients don't do much either as your hair doesn't "eat" and the herbal blends that supposedly nourish your hair just wash off. Then I find that most shampoo and conditioner ingredients, with or without harsh chemicals, have basically the same ingredients as each other. So basically everything is just damn marketing and propaganda and I don't know what to believe. So what then makes the difference between conditioner and shampoo? So what magical concoction honestly make your hair healthy? Or does it all depend on the type of food you put in your body?-
ANSWER:
Yep. Its the food you eat and your lifestyle All the potions and lotions alone arnt going to live up to the promises of the folk that make this stuff. I have beautiful {not skiting} long black with a sprinkle of silver bits due to the fact that Im over 50. Its really thick strong and shiney.I dont believe in washing my hair every day, but once every 8 days. I dont believe in brushing the hell out of it.
Im lucky to have been born with it.

QUESTION:
What is a good way to maintain healthy hair?
I have brown, thick hair, that falls about 3 inches past my shoulder. I am trying to find ways to make my hair seem less thick, and to add a "healthy glow" to it.-
ANSWER:
to make it seem less thick,
i'd say strighten it,
and use some kind of frizz serum,
even if you don't have frizz.
this will add the glow your talking about,
and make your hair smoother and thinner.
a few of my favorites are John Freida Frizz Ease, and Paul Mittchell Skinny Serum.also,
when you use conditioner,
make sure your hair is only damp,
and not wet like it would be when you put on shampoo.
ring it out first,
this makes your hair absorb the product better.

QUESTION:
What are your top tips on getting nice healthy hair?
I don't really like my hair. I think It's dull and It easily gets tuggy.
Does anyone have any good tips on getting nice healthy hair?
and how to make it shine?-
ANSWER:
For really shiny, glossy hair, you need to make sure you wash your hair every 2-3 days. When using shampoo make sure you put it in the roots. You also need to make sure you wash it all out.
When using conditioner, use it on the main part of the hair. I use a comb when i am washing my hair with the conditioner, this makes it shine more.
Good luck!

QUESTION:
How to achieve healthy hair? Get rid of split ends?
Ok so my hair is quite thin, but atm im taking iron tablets which im hoping it will thicken. I have a lot of split ends and I was just wondering apart from having my hair cut every so often, what else I can do to get healthy hair? I do also use a good heat protection on my hair.. and i dont straighten it.-
ANSWER:
Trim every 6 weeks like clockwork (not every so often
) get 1/4 inch trimmed.
At your trim get a Protein conditioning treatment (I go to Fantastic Sams, they have a Chi treatment I like).
Sleep with a deep conditioner on your hair once a week with a towel wrapped around your head and rinse it out in the morning. I like Organics Moroccan Argan Oil (and it smells so delish).
Get a sateen pillow case, it is more gentle on your hair.
Don't use really hot water on your hair, rinse with cool water to seal the cuticle.
Don't wash your hair every day, but every other.
Use a shampoo without SLS and sodium (Loreal and Organics are two brands I use that you can get at a drugstore or supermarket).
Expensive: get a water filter for your shower head to remove the harsh chemicals out of the water because they really do havoc on your hair (and skin).

QUESTION:
What food should I eat to have healthy hair?
What are some of the best foods for your hair?I would like to grow my hair long so I need to make my hair healthy and strong. What food or foods in particular should I eat every day that will help me?
Just wondering, I eat a handful of walnuts and almonds every day, along with yougurt and 2 cups of reen tea. Does this help my skin or hair at all?
-
ANSWER:
To answer your question:A diet consisting of high vitamins and protein is best for your hair, stay away from fatty, greasy and processed foods.
The best things you can do for your hair:
One of the most important things is a 6 -12 week trim depending on how much heat you use. Every day? I would do a small trim every 4 weeks. I don't iron my hair and only blow dry a couple times a week so I trim every 2-3 months. I always use heat protector when styling and even on days I don't. The sun can damage your hair as well. When you blow dry, wait until your hair is just damp..then top it off to add style and body. Also before you finish drying, turn your dryer to cool. This will close your hair follicles to protect them. Use some sort of serum on your ends to replace moisture lost. Heat protector does not keep your hair from getting split ends or from becoming dry, it only helps. We use sun block but we still get a tan right? Same applies. I take hair vitamins for health and growth but I am very picky about my hair and most are not. The only other advice I can give is to never brush your hair when its wet, You will break it. Use conditioner, while its still in comb through it with a big tooth comb. I do all this and my hair is very healthy. I know you didn't ask all this but just thought it could be helpful

QUESTION:
How can I get healthy hair again?
I use to have hair down to the small of my back that was super healthy. I got into the habit of dying my hair random colors which didn't really seem to cause too much damage, but then I decided I wanted the colors in my hair to be brighter so I bleached a portion of it. I hate how it feels and at this point I just want ALL of my natural hair back. Any tips?-
ANSWER:
There is no way to have healthy hair again. In fact, your hair wasn't healthy to begin with. As soon as hair pokes out of the follicle and is hit by ANYTHING (heat, hands, combs, air, heat) it is no longer healthy merely "well preserved."Sound to me like you over processed your hair. You can maintain it with protein treatments and moisturizing agents but sooner or later you have to get rid of it because protein treatment won't fix wispy dead ends (which isn't the ideal beauty or hair standard.)
Well known protein treatments are:
Dudley's DRC 28 and Aphogee 2 step. Dudley's DRC 28 is the strongest protein treatment on the market right now. Yes, it's stronger than Aphogee 2 step. (And that's strong stuff.)Hopefully this helped.

I want to grow my hair about three inches by the summer. My hair is fine and only damaged a little, but i blow dry and straighten it everyday. What can i do to make it healthy and make it grow a bit faster? I hear that taking vitamins helps this, and putting vaseline in your hair? I need to wash my hair everyday but is there a good shampoo i could use?-

Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner bc hair that is moisturized is less likely to break. Taking occasional breaks from heat styling would help too. The vitamins zinc, biotin, and omega 3's help grow hair faster. I was told by a doctor. good luck

QUESTION:
what is the correct diet to have healthy hair. I have very frizzy and dull hair?
please suggest some homemade remedies to have healthy and shiny hair. i have very dull hair after i went through the permanent straightening.-
ANSWER:
Your hair is damaged and if you want healthier hair you will have to cut it off and grow new locks. Hair is dead. And once it's damaged, it's damaged. Stop putting chemicals in your hair and let your hair be. Make sure that you have enough protein in your system (hair is made out of dead protein). Do a strand test. Pluck a strand of hair when it's wet. If it stretches, it's well conditioned. If it stretches and then snaps, you should anty-up on the moisture, but the protein is fine. If it just snaps, definitely cut back on the protein and moisturize like crazy. Deep condition with natural oils like olive oil, etc. I personally use olive oil since castor oil is stinky. What I do once a week is slather virgin olive oil (the one you buy from the supermarket) onto my hair when it's dry. Then I put it under a heating cap for 30 minutes. Remember, this is a must if you have dry, frizzy, damaged hair. After your time is up, wash out the olive oil. And remember to look for split-ends. Split-ends cannot be repaired, so if you find some make sure to cut them before they travel up to your root and break off your hair.

QUESTION:
How can I get my long hair healthy again?
Over the past year i've had my brown hair highlight i'd say 3 if even 4 times, to blonde, it's absolutely dried out my once glossy healthy hair to straw, I straighten/blow dry it once a week and i'm intending to get low lights to try and bring me back to my original colour.
Would it be best to get a toner in or have low lights to minimize re-growth and would this be as damaging as highlighting it?Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!
-
ANSWER:
I was in the same situation as you a few years ago - instead of sleek and silky, my hair looked like an unsightly bunch of straw. I was given Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner for christmas and I couldn't believe how it restored my hair - it was excellent and fully restored it back to the way it was. I FULLY recommend Paul Mitchell to you!

QUESTION:
What are some good tips to maintain healthy hair?
What are some things I can do, some that I should avoid & what are some great products or tricks for maintaining healthy hair?I want my hair to be soft, easy to untangle & keep that way. I want volume, frizz control, easy to manage on busy days, avoid dandruff?
Note: I have shoulder length curly hair.!
I like to straighten it often , specially my bangs! Thanks
-
ANSWER:
For healthy and shiny hair, mash up an avocado, mix it with a tablespoon of olive oil, and rub it through you hair. Wash your hair after 15 minutes.Build hair protein and prevent hair loss by eating zinc. Good sources of zinc include meat and seafood.
Your hair is weak when it's wet, so never brush you hair or rub your hair dry with a towel. Instead, blot the wetness out with a towel and fluff it with your fingers.
Vitamin A keeps your scalp healthy. So snack on carrots, as they are healthy and full of vitamin A.
(Vitamin A can also help your nails grow and be strong.)Vitamin E can make your hair shine. Good sources of vitamin E include: brown rice, nuts, wheat germ (eating wheat germ is also good for keeping your face clear of pimples), and leafy green vegetables.
P.S. If you use any kind of gel for styling your hair then don't use it. Styling your hair with conditioner instead of gel is way more healthier for your hair and works well just like gel once the conditioner dries.
I hope I was helpful. Enjoy =)

QUESTION:
How do grow long black healthy hair to or past your shoulders?
Well I mean African American hair. But it just seems like my hair won't grow anymore but last i remembered my hair was at my neck so its still short and I've always wanted long healthy hair. What should I do..? (Oh I also have braids but when I take them down Im going to get a much needed perm).-
ANSWER:
Your hair is the most fragile of all hair types. They snap & break easily. So you need more TLCs than thin hair. No chemicals. No relaxers specially! No heating styling tools. Finger comb is best or use a wide tooth comb. Do what Oprah have been, going natural. Use oil or conditioner to keep them moisturized.Go to Afro-Amer website. They have tons of tips suggestion etc. just as long as you don't buy propagandas that promises this or that for your hair. They do more harm than good.
Ex. of one relaxer: http://monicabtheorganicstylist.wordpress.com/tag/hair-relaxers/
Keratin are not approved by the FDA. Visit their website & search for it in their web. If you're thinking about the Brazilian treatment, there's a danger about using formaldehyde, a chemical that causes cancer. The FDA does not restrict the use of that chemical in cosmetics.
A hairstylist in Portland, Or. is blowing a whistle on the treatment.
"A big red flag: About a month after she started using Brazilian Blowout on clients, Scrutton had the first nosebleed of her life."
http://www.oregonlive.com/health/index.ssf/2010/10/
after_hair_stylist_becomes_sus.html
(Type it in if they moved the page. "After hairstylist becomes suspicious of Brazilian Blowout, tests find formaldehyde".
At your nearest store, they now have AFRI-AMER hair products, what's good to sell there, is good for your hair type. They go through the same FDA regulations, even the so called 'natural' or 'organics', can do more harm than good for your hair. Like there are good mushrooms, there are also bad mushrooms. Go to the FDA website and learn more about 'natural'. In my email this week, there are about 15 recalls one of them is organic or natural product, recalled by the FDA. Just because they are natural, it doesn't mean you're safe. It is a billion dollar business, but they do not even give money back guarantee for damaged hair or hair loss due to 'abuse'.Braiding your hair is stressful, and it is not going to help make your hair grow any longer or faster.

I used to own a website, and I did some research to help members with their hair, not about Afro, but I stumbled on their website that was informative.

QUESTION:
How to create healthy african american hair?
Every time my hair grows out, it breaks off almost immediately despite my being gentle with it and not using heat of any kind. Any tips to create healthy hair? I am in a vicious cycle... as soon as get some length it breaks off again.
I use hairfoods, and oils to try to keep moisture in my hair. I take biotin, and use aphogee also.It just will not stop breaking.-
ANSWER:
trim your hair regularly. it gets rid of split ends and prevents them from splitting even worse. moisturize your scalp with a good leave-in conditioner or hair grease. blow-dry your hair. it's worse to not blow-dry your hair when your hair is wet because then your hair will become brittle and dry and more prone to breakage. when you blow-dry your hair, just make sure you put Pink Lotion on it while it's wet, then blow dry it out with the comb attachment that you can either buy from the beauty supply store, or comes with the hair dryer. also, keep your hair in braids when you want your hair to grow fast. it's better to get braids with weave than to get braids with your real hair. comb it everyday so it doesn't get tangled and matted. never comb through your hair after putting gel on it. wrap your hair up every night with a scarf or a bonnet or a stocking cap.the best salons to go to in order to take care of your hair is a Dominican salon. they do the best job on African-American hair, and they charge less. just be warned in advance, that is not the place to go if you are tender-headed because they are VERY heavy-handed.
good luck.

QUESTION:
What are some ways you keep your hair healthy?
So its winter here in Aus. of course your hairs going to be really dry and stuff.
i wanna know how i can avoid that.
i want my hair to be healthy with no split ends or anything because im trying to grow my hair long and the only way to do that is to have healthy hair thats moisturised.
what are some ways that you keep your hair healthy?-
ANSWER:
Limit use of heat styling appliances. That's just about #1 on the list. They cause so much damage. If you have to spend a lot of time with a blow dryer, curling iron, flat iron, each and every day, then your not working with your hair, have the wrong cut and will end up with a fried mess.Limiting chemical processes too. Don't color, dye, perm, straighten anymore than you absolutely have to. Especially if you do the heated styling appliances. These chemical processes weaken the hair and then you turn around and apply heat. It's a sure recipe for a hair disaster.
Eat well, use good quality products. They don't have to be the most expensive but the ones that work for you. You need thorough but gentle cleansing and perhaps something to condition just the ends on a daily basis. If you use styling products, you should use a clarifying shampoo once a week to remove build up and then use a deeper conditioner after.
Lastly, protect your hair from sun and wind exposure. That will also dry it out and damage it. If you put it back in a pony tail, use the coated bands that don't grab and break the hair. Brush thoroughly but gently.

However, we live in the day and age when even our drinking water is dangerous. There are so many chemicals in our drinking water that we are not even aware of. Therefore, it is always advisable to drink alkaline water.
The foundation of pH Balance is proper nutrition and ionized alkaline drinking water. Drinking plenty of ionized or alkaline water daily is one of the wisest steps you can take in order to maintain good health. Alkaline, ionized water acts as a powerful and natural antioxidant.
Alkaline ionized water first came to notice in Japan. Alkaline water was initially used in agriculture on plants and animals. Eventually, experiments were conducted by medical professionals on the human body and when these experiments concluded, Japanese doctors inferred that ionic, structured alkaline water was the healthiest form of water for the human body, and that it alleviated many symptoms of adult diseases.
Alkaline water along with an alkaline diet is the call of today's health experts. Proper hydration through alkaline water plays a critical role in the upkeep of your health. P.S.S. maybelline, in my opinion, is a much better brand than neutrogena. and i recommend it much more.

QUESTION:
what is a good drugstore foundation?
I am prone to acne but clean my face everyday however I still get zits. What is a good drugstore foundation for oily skin? I have heard trublend is good too so I am open to reviews and any kind of foundation (matte, liquid, minerals, etc.). I also would like suggestions for foundations that don't make you look "caked on" but still give you the coverage and the healthy glow.-
ANSWER:
I had horrible acne but found that the L'Oreal mineral powder gave me an even complexion (covered up the red) and looked great... You will probably need a clear setting powder but I use a .99 NYC on top and it has cleared up a lot of my skin... Absolutely in love with it (and i have tried most of the department store brands)

QUESTION:
What is the difference between mineral and liquid makeup foundations? Which is better?
Okay, so I have been looking around for good foundations. There are always reviews about mineral makeup and liquid makeup. Which is better? Which one is healthier? And if there are other types of foundations that are better, can you please name them?I'm talking about some foundations that are affordable like at your local drugstore or Wal-Mart. Something that is cheap but has very good quality and will do its job as a coverage makeup and something that will make my skin look very even in skin tone.
I have combination/oily skin and would like something that doesn't clog pores or cause breakouts and all that bad stuff. Please help! (: Thanks in advance!

QUESTION:
Can someone please help me? nobody seems to want to answer my question.?
Does "mixing and matching" makeup brands work?! (for foundation, concealer, and powder)?I am trying to find the best makeup for the best prices, and it seems like one brand will have a great foundation (according to reviews), but a concealer that's not so great, and then another brand will have the best concealer, but a foundation that i've tried and don't like. So, if i get the best of both, will they work okay together? Or are the brands specifically designed to work better with only products of the same brand?
Here, is an inexpensive plan that I have come up with (I'm very tight on money and I really want to get stuff that works together-you can't take it back if it doesn't work!):
Covergirl TruBlend Whipped Foundation
Neutrogena Healthy Smoothing Stick Concealer
Neutrogena SkinClearing Oil-Free Pressed PowderDo you think these types of make up will look good together? or bad? Please help! Thanks!!
please?! pretty please? i'm desperate here guys!
hey thanks everyone! i'm very new to this make up thing... only experimented a little (at home) before. i'm 19 and i've decided it's time for some serious makeover decisions because i'm starting college in august. anyways! thanks ahead of time for answering, i really appreciate it!-
ANSWER:
Don't fall for the brand's marketing gimmick that says " best used with" that's just a way to make you purchase more.
I mix make up and toner, cleansers etc..I find the combo I like best. Go with what you like. It certainly works for me.

QUESTION:
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer vs Physicians Formula Healthy Wear tinted moisturizer?
i do not know which one to get- all i want is to even out my skin tone because my face got tan (unfortunately) so my face has like 7 different colors in it. since i am korean, i have a yellow undertone. i am only 13 which is why i do not want to put on foundation. i am not acne prone and i rarely get pimples. but after reading countless reviews, i don't know which one to get- Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer or the Physicians Formula Healthy Wear tinted moisturizer. (i'm pretty damn tan now because i was out in the sun for 7 hours). so which one and what shade? and i do not own any brushes or any kind of powder because i'm only 13! (also if you have tried the neutrogena one, please tell if it comes off if you touch your face, thank you:)-
ANSWER:
Oh my goodness, go PF healthy wear all the way! I tried N's Healthy Skin Enhancer a while ago and HATED IT. It melted and it wasn't even and it made my skin look oily and gross! BUT, about 4 days ago I tried PF Healthy wear and I LOVE IT! It is the most PERFECTING foundation I have ever used, and I'm 18! So I've used plenty of other brands in my life including Covergirl, neutrogena, estee lauder, ect...
If you get PH's (which you should) then get the darkest color it comes in (which is natural to tan). I just apply it with my fingers, I'm assuming you can do the same.

QUESTION:
Revlon Colorstay or Photo Ready Foundation?
Going shopping tomorrow and I can't decide on which Revlon foundation to get! I have heard good reviews on both. I want a foundation with enough coverage to hide spots and blemishes but I also want it to feel light and make my skin look healthy.
What are your opinions?-
ANSWER:
I have never used Photo Ready Foundation by Revlon, but I heard many reviews, I want that, but since it's a new foundation to the Revlon collection it's a bit too pricy for me. However, I have used Revlon Colorstay and I must say I love it. My color is Colorstay by Revlon is Caramel and I use it for my combonation and oily skin
It has really nice soft flexes and covers up well. I am of dark complexion (caremel toned), so I have a bit of dark sorta black acne scars on some places on my face which I think will no foundation will cover up sadly. But uh yeah, Revlon Colorstay is GREAT
But if you want it to cover blemishes, possibly Photoready would perhaps be better. Colorstay just gives you a nice even skin tone

QUESTION:
What's your favourite foundation? I have quite oily skin which can sometimes also look dry...?
I would like my skin to look natural and healthy and cover up blemishes, any ideas? I live in the UK so not all brands sold in the US are available to me unfortunately. I have looked at previous questions but a lot of the reviews are pretty mixed. Also does mineral make up only look good if you have flawless skin as my skin is a bit uneven due to acne.-
ANSWER:
loreal paris infalliable foundation...
AMAZING! stays on all day, comes in about 20 colours so you can get the EXACT one (so no tangoed faces
)
AND it doesn't rub off, it is waterproof and blends so it looks like you dont have any make up on! Its also non-greasy, and covers up even serious skin conditions like acne fabulously...
Its also only £10!!! I live in the uk too, so getting this wont be a problem...dont know what i'd do without it

QUESTION:
What Foundation is better?
I was thinking about getting a new foundation, ive been using Neutrogena's healthy skin liquid foundation, and its pretty good. Its my first foundation ive bought too. But there have been alot of good reviews on the "cover girl natureluxe foundation"
Which one is better?-
ANSWER:
I would say between these two...Neutrogena is best. But please take a look at the Loreal Magic Smooth Souffle and they also have another product you can/maybe you use with it...Loreal Magic Perfecting Base. With even just the first product you do not need to use concealer or powder. My favorite and the best Ive found are Revlon, Loreal, and Neutrogena products...they are all amazing. I have been wearing make up for 26 yrs. and doing makeovers for 20 yrs. My company is called Do It Again...because after Ive done their make up and style, they always come back and say "do it again, just like you did!" Good luck and have fun with it. And always remember to wear your make up, don't let it wear you...good rule to follow.

QUESTION:
Which neutrogena foundation should I buy?
So I'm looking at these neutrogena foundations:
1. Healthy Skin liquid makeup
2. Skin-clearing liquid makeup
3. Mineral sheers powder foundationHave you tried any of these? Please give me reviews on any of the products you've tried...
I have a bit of acne, but I'm wondering if I should buy the skin-clearing one or if one of the others would be fine, because they're supposed to not cause breakouts and be good for your skin. And it's kind of hot outside, it being summer, so if I buy a liquid makeup will my face feel gross and sticky?-
ANSWER:
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the skin clearing one. I am absolutely convinced that is what cleared my skin up. (and i went to dermatologists for years). Sometimes when I am traveling ill even use it on my face before i go to bed to keep from breaking out. Some times it doesn't cover enough so I will layer Clinique superfit make up over it

Does the bourjois healthy mix foundation stay on well for you?
I recently brought it today and it stayed on for literally like 10 minutes and it had all worn off of my nose and gradually going off of my fore head. i usually apply a face perfector from avon before and i didnt today, do you think thats why it didnt stay on as well?does it stay on wel for you, if you wear it? i saw a lot of reviews and they said it was great and it stayed on all day, but mine didnt for some reason, do you think it could have been the moisturizer?
-
ANSWER:
Hi,
I have never tried this particular foundation, but i have experienced it with with other foundations (even with the ones with the good reviews). As you say that it has worn on your nose and forehead, it indicates to me that it doesn't suit your skin type. I have a tendency of getting oily skin around my nose. The forehead is also a prone area for this.
As for the avon primer/moisturiser, try putting this on then applying the foundation. If this helps i find no7 (from boots) protect and perfect, and stay perfect is a fab foundation, although sometimes if you want it to be less concentrated mix it with no7 tinted moisturiser. No primer needed in my experience.Hope this helps,

QUESTION:
how to keep foundation on better on my nose?
well i use revlon colorstay foundation, i used to use bourjois healthy mix but that didn't stay on well on my nose so i put a small amount of both: a l'oreal one and ^ on my nose and blended really well and that stayed on, it was good, but not when i went to school. it's really weird, whenever i go to school my foundation always comes off, but out of school it stays on and i'm usually happy with it. for example i did that ^ last weekend and it stayed on from 12 till 10 at night, and i was so happy so i did it for school and i was gutted when it looked awful when i got home.i apply my no7 primer before hand, i used to use mosturizer but that really doesn't help, my elf primer isn't very good either and i don't really want to buy anymore. i read all these reviews about the revlon one being amazing, great coverage and staying ON? but it doesn't. when i wear it on my nose little dots show through and you can then start to see the few blackheads i have on my nose, which makes me so depressed and unhappy. do you know how i can stop this and how to get it to stay on better, on my nose and all over. i only go to school for 7 1/2 hours.
its weird it stays on at the weekend etc. should i mix the foundations together and try that, would that work?
i apply powder after as well. thankyou, any tips anything.
and i don't want to buy a new foundation, i just spent a lot on this one.-

Body Shop foundation?
hi there,i am going to be purchasing some foundatoin from the body shop, i have heard and tryed out many of their products, and although it can be pricey, it is definatley worth it, top class stuff xD ( not in a snobby way, in a way that it is high quality)
i have noticed the oily skin balance and moisture renewal liquid foundations,
the oily skin balance ones has reviews of it being cakey and no coverage, if you have had experience with this foundatoin, please leave a comment
the moisture renewal one has reviewss of being excellent and elaves u with a healthy looking glow, again, if u have used this one, please leave a comment about it
i do not have either highly oily or dry skin, so i am torn in a way, i just want a foundatoin that is high quality, doesnt make me look like a grease ball or have cakey dry skin.
also i will be purchasing the mineral powder foundation from the body shop, any comments about that one?
if you have any other foundatoins in mind that are better, please comment
!!!thanks!! x <3
-
ANSWER:
i've tried the oil balance one.
I have fair skin, the lightest shade is orange!!!
its matte which is good and has a good coverage but it gets oily extremely quickly and doesnt last all day
also if you get it in your eyes it stings sooo much
so i wouldnt buy if
but if you dont have particularly fair or oily skin it could work for you..ive tried the mineral foundation also...
not worth the money
hardly ANY coverage
so powdery.those are my opinions cause i have tried the products
i do love the lip & cheek tint though!
and their eyeshadows, skincare products etc

Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation = <3I dont wear foundation everyday...but that's my favourite one to wear... its so light and I get good coverage from it (not insane amounts but i'm sure you get my drift). it works better if you apply it with your fingers though so if you're one of those ppl that dont like doing that then maybe stay away from this one... the mousse texture and brushes dont mix well lol

QUESTION:
which foundation have you found to be better?
I know I asked a similar question a few days ago, but whatever.
I switched over to using Smashbox High Definition Healthy FX foundation & Smashbox HALO Hydrating Perfecting Powder.
I bought the Complexion Perfection kit w/ the mini versions of it so I could try it out before buying the big ones. I really love it so far, but still not sure.I'm still thinking about trying out Mac Studio Fix. I've been wanting to try it for awhile [i tried the powder along time ago but I don't think I liked it..can't remember]. Is it worth giving it a try? I hear alot of mixed review on it. Does it make you look oily?
so what do you girls [& guys] think is better? Smashbox or Mac?
I have tried Bare Minerals before & loved it. I only stopped using it because I found that during summer and when it'd be humid, I'd touch my face and it'd streak and turn white [if that made sense.. ahaha].-

QUESTION:
So I just bought Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Acne wash! How long will it take
?
I just bought Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Acne Wash because I saw it won an Allure award and read some good reviews. I'm a twenty year old female and just started birth control pills (Lo Loestrin FE that my doctor gave me herself) but I started breaking out a little more than usual which I can tell is from my body still getting used to the hormones in the pills. In about another week I will have been on the pills for a month so I hope these side effects start to die down; it says they'll eventually go away. I had two huge pimples on my face that after a few days still wouldn't go away, so I had to pop them (I've learned my lesson though they're disgusting) The first one is already healed and the scab went away but this other one I popped yesterday. It was hard when I popped it, this morning there was still more gunk in it so I popped out the remains (which was a little puss, before a little blood just came out) Recently I've been switching cleansers too in hopes that maybe that would clear my face up too. But I'm sticking with Neutrogena because I'm also using Neutrogen's Healthy Skin Liquid Foundation/Pressed Powder. With this combo I feel like my skin will look great in no time.I need my face to be clear in 2 weeks. I'm going to follow the directions on my Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Acne Wash (the liquid one) and hopefully within a few days the zit I just popped will scab up! How long will it take to work? I'm done popping pimples, these two were just way too obvious though. I hope this won't make my acne worse, I dont have severe acne at all just a few here and there. My Birth Control side effects should be going away soon (I dont have any other side effects, my moodiness is gone now!)

QUESTION:
Waterproof Tinted Moisturizer (DRUGSTORE BRANDS ONLY)?
With summer here, I need a new form of covering up blemishes, redness, and acne. I usually use a foundation, but it is too heavy for summer.I've decided to buy a tinted moisturizer, but I need one that is really good that will be waterproof (waterproof as in swimming!), and from the drugstore (CVS, Walgreens).
Any suggestions?
Oh and I've also heard good things about both Cover Girl Acqua Smoothers tinted moisturizer and Neautrogena healthy skin enhancer tinted moisturizer. Reviews?
-
ANSWER:
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer Tinted Moisturizer is one of my favorite multi-tasking products. I have been using it almost everyday this summer – it replaces moisturizer, sunscreen, primer and a retinol product. I have oiler skin and live in the humid south, so I don’t have much need for a moisturizer – this is a very light moisturizer and it provides a sheer color. I wear Medium in everything and the color number 40 (neutral to tan) is a perfect match for me.l

(I'm not sure if I should get this product or just get like the Jergens healthy glow self tanner one!
and I'm confused- does this go on first as a primer kinda to moisturize or more of a makeup setter? )
Mac Bronzing Powder. -THIS IS what i really really want to get as well as the blush)
I've heard raves and great reviews on this and how you can never go wrong with this!
Mac Cream blush? I've heard that orgasm is the best shade ever and works with everyone.
But I've also heard you can get comparable drugstore products for way less!
Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural
Okay I'm really not sure to get this product cause I don't use like concealer or foundation cause
I'm blessed to have pretty good skin, so would the like tint be enough to even out my skin and stuff
that it would be stupid to get the skinfinish natural?????
Laura Geller Spackle Makeup Primer!- yay or nay? waste of money?
Mac Prep and Prime Finishing Powder, does it really help?
to set makeup...
will these things look good/work to their maximum potential even though I do not use concealer foundation?
and I do use concealer occasionally, but like just plain concealer.
is that bad should I use foundation over it, etc.
Please leave some tips that would be great
wow.. connection..
sorry about that guys!
i mean collection
and yes nars...
not mac.. that was so smart
Okay I think that now that you say that!
I'm thinking of getting the BRONZING powder for sure, prep&prime (eventually),the MAC Studio Moisture tint or would the jergens self tanning stuff just be as great?!-
ANSWER:
I use a mix of high end make-up and drug store brands so I can answer a few of your questions. The Urban Decay Primer is good- it's a good product and I have nothing against the quality. However, the bottle is weirdly shaped. Why is this important? Well when you start reaching the bottom of the bottle, you won't be able to get the product that is stuck to the sides or down in the very bottom- the bottle leaves you with wasted product unless you cut it open and scoop it out. I recommend Too Faced's primer instead.
Anything by MAC is amazing. If you have the money for it, get it. I've never had a bad MAC product yet, especially the skin products.
You said you have good skin, so I probably wouldn't get anything too heavy (foundation or anything like that). A tint would probably be fine, and possibly some bronzer. You mentioned Orgasm, the blush everyone talks about. If you want that blush it's made by NARS, not MAC. I have not used it personally but it's supposed to be great. I'd say it's worth a try. I personally use Too Faced (haha here I go again) Brightening Blush in the color Papa Don't Peach - it could seriously work on any skin tone and you can't even tell it's blush - just looks like a bit of rosy pink color.
The Prep and Prime Finishing Powder does really help and is worth it.
Anything else I can't really help you with, but I hope this was enough to get you started

Tinted mouisturizer help!?
I'm looking for a cheap tinted moisturizer to use on a daily basis because i don't like using foundation every day because it is too heavy. So i have a few options and i need help deciding which one won't make me break out, or isn't too heavy, or which one is healthier/better for my skin! my skin is normal to dry skin. Sometimes it can be sensitive..These are the options:
-Almay Smart Shade - people seem to really like it and say it adjusts to your skin tone
-Wet 'n Wild Ultimate Sheer Tinted Moisturizer - I've read some really good reviews like saying it adjusts to your skin color, cheap, mix it with moisturizer and it works great, ect. BUT i have also read it burns, orangeish ect. what do you think?
-Neutrogena - this one sounds good and healthy.
Aveeno - I haven't researched this too much, but many people use it and say it's good.
-Covergirl aquasmoothers - I've heard a lot about this one too!I don't need this to cover up any acne> i just need it to give my skin a healthy glow, balance my skin tone, ect.

thank you for your help!
-
ANSWER:
Hey i have not heard of many of these products before but why don't you try looking in a shop that sells lots of different brands of make-up with counter that you can have your make-up done. Also you can search for it online or buy it online from a shop. If this doesn't work it might be because they don't sell all of these products in the UK, because twiglight is an American film. Aswell, if you can't find any of them maybe you can buy some products which are the same products of the same quality but different brands. Also ask a professional and they will guide you and give you advice on which products to go for that suit your skin. I hope this helps and you find what your looking for!

QUESTION:
Thinking about purchasing ALMAY Smart Shade for my acne-prone skin...?
I'm the type of person that likes to get the reviews on something before I buy it...and makeup is no exception. I really want to get Almay's Smart Shade foundation because I've been having the worst luck lately with my skin and Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse...I loved this particular product until the humidity and heat kicked in around where I'm from. I need something lighter (and healthier for my skin) for summer. Is this a good foundation for acne-prone skin & the warmer weather? If not, what else would be worth a shot...?
-
ANSWER:
If you want a foundation for acne-prone skin vichy has come out with a foundation called normaderma. It helps to not clog the pores. Smart shade is not a good choice for acne prone skin due to the oil in it will only make your skin worse.

Acne Problem beach next week! HELP!?!?
im 15 and recently ive been getting alot of acne i eat healthy and im using clean and clear acne kit and its not really helping and im going to the beach next week and I would really like to not have to wear foundation in the water (no it doesn't cause my acne) so i was wondering if you could recommend something for me, i have moderate skin and heres a few websites that i would like you guys to review and tell me what you think: (there all natural)
http://www.overnight-acne-cures.com/?hop...
http://www.acnefreein3days.com/c/index.h...
http://www.acnenomore.com/?hop=chrislee
how does that green tea thing work?-
ANSWER:
Try an aspirin mask, I've heard very good things about that. Also, while it may be tempting, always wear a strong sun block, sun light can temporarily help acne but will make it worse in the long run (tanning thickens the skin and will make break outs worse in the future). For those big nasty ones that won't go away, try some neosproin and a band aid over night, this usually helps me the most.Just don't fret about it too much, stress makes acne worse, so try to relax and do the few things I suggested and it should be getting better.

QUESTION:
What beauty products do you swear by?
I know there have been questions like this, but I just wanted one as my own:when i find a product i love i have to tell everyone, even if they don't ask.
but know i'm asking, what products can you not live a day without?here's mine:
BARE minerals: starter kit. best makeup ever, I don't have really bad skin, but it's uneven, and this totally makes it flawless. comes with two foundation colors, a bronzer (called warmth) and mineral veil (setting powder) and then two brushes and a primer
BARE minerals primer: I just added it above cause it came in the kit, but this makes my skin super soft and ready to go.
MACARA: I use so much mascara for different things. For really long-dramatic-going-out- partying-lashes, I use L’OREAL volume shocking mascara (). For formal-family-interview-nice lashes I use Revlon fabulash (), give you lot’s of volume, not as much length. And for everyday-work-hanging-doing-errands I use maybelline colossal volume, just a nice bit of mascara. I also use this is waterproof for working out or going to the shore. * I would like to know how mabybelline’s new falsies mascara is if anyone has tried it!
MAYBELLINE gel liner: I would suggest at least trying gel liner if you haven’t, it’s a whole new world and I love this one.
REVLON eyeliner: for my bottom line, pretty generic, but it’s bold and stays long.
VASELINE aloe lotion: I use this for everything. I use it as moisturizer, but I also use it to touch up make-up (with a q-tip, to clean stuff up) and to take it off and it’s just awesome to have.
clinque skin care line: set. LOVE this. comes with face wash, toner (which is mostly what i swear by) and lotion. and lasts a long time, i'm running out of the toner and it's been like 10 months
BIOSILK: about for the smallest one . it's basically just a hair sererm, but it's amazing.. i put it in when my hair is wet and then straighten it when it's dry and it's so soft. and it also seals split ends so your hair LOOKS and FEELS healthy (but it's still just as broken)
TRESemme dry shampoo, fresh start series: i never thought there was a use for dry shampoo, but when have second day hair, i just put this through and it absorbs quickly and (unlike the biosilk, when i put it in dry hair it looks greasy) makes my hair super soft. sometimes, i forget i need to shower, that’s how awesome it is.
TRESemme curl boosting mousse: it’s the one in green, it’s lightweight but still holds when I scrunch my hair. It’s one of the only mousse brands I’ve used over the course of seven or so years.
L'OREAL everpure moisture leave-in conditioner: this stuff is made for color treated hair but I use it anyways because it has sunscreen and nourishment and it’s just awesome. The smell is strong and very different from most hair products (it’s rosemary mint) but it’s hardly noticeable after you style your hair.
L’OREAL everstrong overnight repair treatment: same kind of deal as the last one, except you put it in at night and it moisturizes. I love this, but I would not recommend using it if you’re not washing your hair in the morning. It’s heavy and weighs down your hair a lot
DOVE hair line: -7. I gave up trying to use shampoo and conditioners that said to make your hair shiny, or straight, or whatever (even when I coupled it with the styling products, I saw no difference). So I just use dove daily moisture shampoo and condish. And their hairspray and mousse. I haven’t found a gel in dove, so if anyone has, can you give me a little review of it, I would love to try it.
oh how could i forget!OPI nail polish: i espically love "over the taupe" i had to get it online, but it's such a nice brown.
SALLY hansen quick dry nail polish: really does dry quick.

ANSWER:
I'm a bit of a nail varnish junky so mine has to be Barry M nail varnish! It's so cheap and comes in so many bright awesome colours. It also last a few days without chipping

QUESTION:
Bare minerals vs. bee-luscious vs. everyday mineral??
After going around yahoo answers, and looking for some of the best mineral products out there, I found bare minerals, bee-luscious, and everyday minerals as the three top popular answers. I just want to give you an overall review of these 3 beauty products for those who have not tried them yet.Disclaimer: This is MY very own opinions and experiences, please no rude comments. Please do share your own opinion about these products so it would help others to decide which product they would like to try out.
My skin type: I am in my early 20's and have light skin. I also have combination skin meaning that my t-zone gets oily throughout the day. I also have sensitive skin and tend to break out a little each month ( like one or two pimples) I also have large pores on my nose
Bare Minerals- Okay, So i tried this the longest out of the three products. I been using this over 6 months, and I really do like it. My skin does not break out and my skin appears to get better as I use this everyday. Now, the downside of this is that it does not last long for me. I would apply this in the morning and about 5 hours later, it would be gone! Also, Some people do not like Bareminerals, because it leaves their face shiny since it contains a certain ingredient that does this.I have a combination skin and do admit that it lives my T-zone shiny, but then I would use oil blotting tissues throughout the day. When I do put it on, it does not FEEL that i have make up when i touch my face, but when I look in the mirror, I looks like i did applied makeup on my face. I might have overdone the foundation as I get a little carried away as long with the warmth all over face mineral...
Everyday Mineral- I have to say that I love them for giving free samples on their online website: www.everydayminerals.com. I only had to pay 3 some dollars for them to ship it to me. The samples are very generous as well. Alot of women use this product rather than bare minerals, because it does not contain bismuth which could irritate the skin and leave it red. I did not have this problem with bare minerals. The downside of of this product is the option of choosing your foundation color. They have 24 different foundation bases to choose from while bare minerals only has 12! They are an only online base company, so it might take a while for some people to truely find their foundation color. They also have the option of choosing whether or not if you want orignal glo, semi-matte, matte, or intensive. So, on top of choosing which foundation shade, you have to choose which type of coverage you would want. I choose semi-matte, because it was recommended for combination skin. I have to say that this product does give you more coverage than bareminerals does, but when you touch your face, it feels you have makeup on versus bareminerals that doesn't. When I did put it on, my friend told me that the makeup made me look more natural than the baremineral gave me. I guess the 24 foundation shades had a plus side giving that you are able to find a shade that truely matches your skin color. A downside of this product was that at the end of the day, my skin didn't look as great as baremineral gave me. My pores looked bigger as well as it looked a little cakey. Overall, I would recommend it for those who want more coverage and it is supposedly more healthier than using bareminerals since it contains less ingredients and they are half the price of bareminerals!
bee-lucious- I know a lot of women really like this product and I hear it alot here at yahoo answer. I used this, and not only my skin felt cakey, it clogged my pores and gave me the look of larger pores on my skin at the end of the day. The ingredients of this product are very safe and that's why a lot of people like it. It also gives give you good coverage, but I did not like the fact that it is Liquid mineral foundation. It got too messy for me to use I like to stick to mineral foundation. they also give out samples for 3 dollars on their website giving you 2 foundation samples.
Right now, i am using both everyday mineral and baremineral, switching every some days depending on what kind of coverage i want each day. I definitely tossed out bee-lucious...
okay, ladies, what are YOUR opinion on these products!?-
ANSWER:
Please don't use bare minerals. You pay for that filling in there, &if it's not irritating your skin now, sooner or later it will. 'Bismuth is ok for a stomach ache, but not on the face. it's natural, sure, but so is petroleum,( which is mineral oil,) which goes in the tank.I don't know about everyday minerals. I've yet to go to the web site. but i do know that southernmagnoliaminerals.com, & this i use:
http://www.smokymountainminerals.com/home,home.html IS a PURE product. It is safe to even put it on at night, & wear it, cause of the zinc it has. In the rice perfecter, it alone has healing in it, & I recommend anyone anywhere, anytime to use it. Even wearing it alone, helps your skin. The base perfecter in the smokymountain, looks like you've got a little makeup on. I love the stuff. I mix two shades (or more,) together, owing to how i feel that day. Or have a bowl that has some premixed in it. I mix up some Avon in it sometimes too. It's a very good wearing & feeling product &is also a great value!
I hope this helps & please: you don't have to help contribute to making Lesley's wallet fat. She's ripping off enough people.

Also does mineral make up only look good if you have flawless skin as my skin is a bit uneven due to acne.
Mmm I am confused as to why this has gone into the wrong category sorry! Must have been a typo thing.-
ANSWER:
I know some really good ones because I have probably literally tried every supermarket/drugstore brand. I have a pretty darn oily t-zone (your forehead and nose basically) and I'm a little dry in other spots. The point is to not cake on makeup first of all, and second of all, you should use a makeup that you can apply with your fingers instead of a pad or whatever. I know that it can seem scarey if you're oily but powders aren't going to make you look good if you have blemishes. They just don't. I can reccomend three great makeups you can get from the drugstore! Try Loreal Dream Matte Mousse. It's GREAT for that combo kind of skin and really hides blemishes. Or try Maybeline Superstay Silky - it's a lotion and foundation combo. You might think lotion is bad for oily skin, but we need moisture too even though we're oily and you mentioned you had dry spots as well. Or try Maybelline pure makeup. It's water based, so you don't have any oil to worry about! Also, mineral makeup is awesome. I used that i.d. for a while and it was wonderful. It's the only "powder" i'd buy.

QUESTION:
What is the best drugstore foundation?
I recently started getting really bad acne and school is coming up.. I don't want a powder foundation because my skin is a little dry in some area's... I have some red spots on my face also.. My skin is sensitive!!! I don't want something with a lot of coverage.. I want something that has a bit more coverage then a tinted moisturizer.. I don't have really oily skin, but on my cheeks and nose I do.. I heard really good reviews on Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup.. Should I get that? I use a tinted moisturizer at the moment...
Please don't say Revon colorstay because I already tired it and it made me look like I was wearing a mask on my face!!!-
ANSWER:
Have you tried L'Oreal True Match? It's a lot lighter and the coverage is more sheer so you won't get that mask-like look. Good luck!
